Wine & Food Gathering

The winemaking industry is based on a process that dates back thousands of years. This process has been refined throughout the years, thus resulting in what we know today as the winemaking industry. Grapes are grown on six continents, while wine is made in every continent. This venture is truly a global industry.

In terms of winemaking, there are two aspects to it: viticulture and winemaking. The process of viticulture is the process of growing grapes, which can then be made into wine through winemaking. There are various methods of preparing wine. They all consist of taking grapes and through various processes turning them into wine, which will then be sold through various methods. There are two types of winemaking methods: the old-world and the new-world method of making wine. It is said that 46% of the world's wine production comes from regions that are known for their wine production, including Bordeaux in France, and the majority of Italy and Spain. There are also vineyards in this region that rely on traditional methods, for example, fermenting the wine in wooden barrels during this process. There are a number of new world regions where modern wine making techniques are implemented, including steel drums, mechanized harvesting systems, and screw caps. These include Chile, Australia, and California's Napa Valley.

It has proven to be tremendously beneficial for economies of the world to have wine as a global industry, which represents a 28 billion Euro industry in 2015 which provides enormous earnings from exports, jobs and economic growth for economies. California's wine industry for example produces $59.9 billion worth of economic values for the state each year. A smaller scale of the industry showed that Washington's wine industry increased its value by $998 million from the previous year. A total of $128.1 billion were generated by the US viticulture industry as a whole in 2005, which represents a 30% increase over that of 2004.resents a 30% increase over that of 2004. Moreover, wine tourism has also become an important industry in its own right; a product of the wine industry that contributes a substantial amount of money to rural and regional Australia each year.

Additionally, the viticulture industry generates a large number of jobs. According to 2008 statistics, viticulture employed more than 28000 people in Australia. Approximately 11,000 people work in Washington State for this industry. In communities where viticulture is the economic mainstay, a poor season that does not employ many labour’ is accompanied by much unemployment, leaving these communities unable to cope with hardship.
